I am delighted for once to see a sensible attitude to the Canadian relationship with China. I am very pleased that Mr. Tyrrell is going.
Personally I am enormously frustrated by all the China bashing and the generated fears of China. It is irrational and basically racist. Recently, it was initiated by Canada following the US request to arrest the Chinese financial company director and to hold her with no court decision. Naturally such action was followed by a Chinese reaction and thus it has continued very much to our Canadian misfortune and totally unnecessary. Canada would do endlessly better by having an independent foreign policy which ought not to be based on fear. China has become economically successful whereas the US is in a constant war situation in order to keep its military industry profitable and to dominate the world.
It is high time we inform ourselves and act independently of the USA; we must look at what is currently happening there which is detrimental to a healthy society.
