Esquerra Republicana, Comuns and the CUP will create a study commission in the Catalan Parliament to study the impact of the platform economy – representing Amazon and Glovo – and artificial intelligence on the labor market.
In the text submitted to parliament, Esquerra, Comuns, and the CUP point out that the platform economy and new technologies can harm labor rights. According to them, the digitalization of the labor market or the development of artificial intelligence “often have the potential to favor the balance in favor of capital and to the detriment of workers.”

The three groups emphasize the need to defend “labor rights, the local economic and commercial fabric, and local distribution,” as well as to seek specific legislative solutions to address the negative consequences of the platform economy and artificial intelligence on the labor market.
The work of the study commission should therefore serve to gather information on these phenomena and establish a basis for regulating their impact.
The initiative, jointly submitted by the three parliamentary groups, stems from the text of a Republican Left motion, approved in plenary session during the previous legislature.
