The Green Women’s Network, which is a structure that encourages networking and exchanges between Green women, will meet the public on Saturday March 9, 2024 at the Federal Palace in Bern for a special brainstorming session during which participants will discuss the way to advance feminist struggles despite headwinds from the right. The meeting will be marked by a fascinating presentation on anti-feminist rhetoric which will be given by Lisa Mazzone, candidate for the party’s presidency and other members of the future leadership of the VERT-E-S.
Created in 2019 by the Green Party of Switzerland, the Green Women’s Network aims to strengthen collaboration between Green women from all regions of Switzerland, and in particular facilitate the start of young people in politics.
“We need more women in politics – and therefore more GREEN-E-S. Because for us, equality is part of our DNA. There is no Green without equality. It is therefore not surprising that the Green Monica Zingg was the first president of a national party in 1985. It is therefore also not surprising that we have the youngest and most female parliamentary group in the Federal Palace , that we are first in terms of percentage of women in the cantonal legislatures (49%) and in executives (43%). Nor that the statutes of the GREEN-E-S be written in the feminine language”, we can read on the green party website.
