While the MEDEF announced a rally for October 13, the Green Party announced its own “counter-rally” on the same day, at the initiative of Marine Tondelier.

“For the first time since 1981, the MEDEF is organizing a major rally on October 13 to ‘stand up for themselves.’ This selective outrage is all the more scandalous given that it comes just weeks after the publication of a parliamentary report revealing that €211 billion in public subsidies are allocated to businesses each year without any conditions attached,” stated the Member of Parliament in a letter sent to their partners.

The Green Party is inviting trade unions, youth movements, and their political partners to join them at this rally “to defend the principles of tax justice and national solidarity.” The party announced that a first working meeting on the subject will take place “in the coming days.”

The MEDEF rally will be held at the Accor Arena. “The time has come to stand up, to make our voices heard,” explains the invitation, “enough of being treated as profiteers or the privileged elite.”

To which Jean-Luc Mélenchon quickly responded: “The MEDEF president is asking business leaders to ‘be proud of being true rebels.’ Unfortunately, that’s not true. The MEDEF is the mouthpiece of business leaders who are subservient to the ultra-rich and the financial sector that destroys nature and human society,” wrote the leader of La France Insoumise (LFI) on X.
