The deputy of Alianza Verde, Santiago Osorio, sent a letter to the leader of the Green Party requesting the expulsion of Jota Pe Hernández from the party after an incident that occurred in the Senate during a motion of censure addressed to the Minister of Defense, Iván Velázquez, in Congress.
In a letter addressed to Rodrigo Romero, president of the Green Alliance, House Representative Santiago Osorio Marín, requested the expulsion of Senator Jonathan Ferney Pulido, known as Jota Pe Hernández, after an altercation with the senator María José Pizarro during a motion of censure addressed to the Minister of Defense, Iván Velásquez, in Congress.
Via his X account (formerly Twitter), the representative explained in detail the reasons behind his request. In his message, he underlined the seriousness of the events that occurred during the plenary session of the Senate, describing them as unacceptable. He emphasized that one of the fundamental principles of the Green Party is to combat political violence against women and that the acts committed by Jota Pe Hernández significantly transgress this partisan essence.
Senator Osorio has repeatedly reiterated that the Green Party cannot tolerate or support those who act contrary to its principles and values. He said that Senator Hernández’s behavior is inconsistent with the party’s position and represents a repeated affront to its ideals. He also stressed that the party cannot afford to be identified as a platform for those who seek to deceive citizens through dishonest political practices.
In this letter addressed to Rodrigo Romero, president of the Green Alliance, the representative in the House bluntly requested the expulsion of Senator Jota Pe Hernández, due to “behaviors that have generated controversy and concern within the green community,” the letter reads.
Deputy Santiago Osorio recalled in his letter the lively discussion between the two legislators. It should be noted that it all started when Senator María José Pizarro expressed her opinion on Senator Hernández’s comments regarding the management of the Minister of Defense, calling them useless and questioning his sincerity.
In response, Hernández interrupted the Historic Pact coalition senator, prompting Senate President Iván Name to call to order. The situation became even more tense when the deputy used the expression “mad dog” to refer to Senator Hernández’s behavior, which provoked an immediate reaction from the latter.
Without delay, Jota Pe Hernández, visibly upset, took out his cell phone and began recording the senator, to which he replied: “Mad dog? The one who demands respect and who has just called me a mad dog because I say that it is true that the soldiers are being killed.
In his letter, Osorio expressed concern about the integrity of the party and the need to safeguard its founding principles. “It is difficult to express in words the regret I feel at having to address such a delicate subject,” he wrote. However, he stressed the importance of facing difficult situations with courage and acting decisively when necessary.
Osorio urgently requested an investigation by the Party’s Ethics Committee to address these behaviors which, if proven, not only tarnish the reputation of Senator Hernández, but openly contradict the fundamental values defended by the Green Alliance.
The representative in the House called on the integrity of the party to take firm and exemplary measures in this matter. “It is time to reaffirm our commitment to justice, equality and respect,” he said. He is convinced that together, they will be able to meet this challenge with the determination necessary to maintain the integrity of the Green Alliance party.
