Instead, the Green candidate advocated for a “popular ecology” strategy that delivers massive, expanded, and targeted financial aid to millions of lower-income households trapped by car dependency. To finance this social shield, her solution is immediate: heavily tax the superprofits of oil giants like Total, which recently raised its investor dividends.
Agricultural Crisis: Directing Emergency Funds to Vulnerable Farmers
Addressing the government’s €1 billion emergency fund announced after recent droughts, Tondelier insisted the response falls short and targets the wrong beneficiaries. Because the financial aid is closely tied to the existing National Solidarity Indemnity (ISN) scheme, it inadvertently excludes the vast majority of farms.
“82% of farms are currently uninsured. The bulk of this state aid will flow to structures that are already protected,” she warned, noting that up to 35,000 small farms face bankruptcy in the coming months. The Greens are demanding a swift redirection of funds toward market gardening and livestock farming, which are bearing the brunt of severe fodder shortages and uninsurable production losses.
Biodiversity: A Nationwide Hunting Ban in Wildfire Areas
On conservation, the Green leader confirmed she has signed the online petition—which has gathered over 500,000 signatures—demanding a three-year hunting moratorium in areas devastated by wildfires.
With wildlife suffering catastrophic losses across 96,000 hectares of incinerated forests, Tondelier demanded the immediate creation of regeneration sanctuaries where surviving animals can recover safely. She urged the central government to establish a clear national directive for local prefects rather than leaving local authorities to manage the ecological crisis on their own.
Presidential Race: An Unwavering Commitment to a Single Candidate
Having been on the campaign trail for nearly a year, Tondelier refuses to alter her political course despite ongoing disagreements with the Socialist Party. Expressing frustration over current left-wing divisions, she pointed to the historic surge of unity during the 2024 legislative snap elections as proof of what is possible.
“I haven’t changed my line. I remain a candidate for ecology and for unity,” she concluded, reiterating that a single, joint candidate for the left is the only viable path to successfully address future democratic and climate challenges.
