Several media outlets reported that the legislator had been detained at customs for 14 hours, after which he re-entered the country and was reported to have had his visa canceled.
Following the circulation of these reports, López Hernández’s office issued a statement denying these claims and affirming that the legislator is not under investigation in the United States.
The statement details that U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agents only recommended renewing her visa due to the document’s wear and tear. While this process is being processed, she was granted a special pass that allows her to enter and leave the country normally.
According to her legislative information, López Hernández is in charge of District 4 in Tamaulipas.
Mexican authorities and the Green Ecologist Party of Mexico (PVEM) have not commented on the matter.

Brown Figueroa Appears at Sheinbaum’s Event
Last week, Morena representative Hilda Araceli Brown Figueroa, who is accused by the U.S. of having alleged ties to the Sinaloa Cartel, attended a briefing by President Claudia Sheinbaum in Mexicali, Baja California.
After the “Transformation Advances” event, Brown Figueroa told the media that he had no reason to resign from his position as deputy, as “there are no reasons to leave office.”
“I think the most important thing is that we continue legislating the initiatives of our president and that we continue working for transformation,” he declared.
Trump Recommends US Attorney General Investigate Mexican Politicians
In February, US President Donald Trump confirmed, in an interview with The Spectator, that he will recommend that Attorney General Pam Bondi investigate Mexican politicians for possible ties to drug trafficking.
Journalist Ben Domenech questioned the president about whether he will hold corrupt politicians who have benefited from human trafficking and fentanyl trafficking accountable, to which the president replied, “definitely.”

“Including Mexican politicians?” Domenech asked.
“I would certainly recommend that they be investigated, certainly. It will be up to Pam Bondi, who is excellent at what she does,” Trump responded.
Regarding a possible intervention in Mexico, Trump evaded the question, saying he preferred not to say so, because even though he wanted to answer, it would be “a disaster” if he did.
“I’d rather not tell you that. It’s very interesting, sometimes you get asked questions like that and you don’t want to give an answer because if you give an answer, it’s a disaster, if you give an honest answer,” he stated.
