Europa Verde - Verdi

In anticipation of this important event, Giuseppe Campana, regional spokesperson for Europa Verde-Verdi/AVS, is urging the center-left to put aside the controversy and form a united front. He also announced that the party is in a position to nominate its own candidate.

Campana’s statement begins with a reflection: “Healthcare reduced to rubble, infrastructure at a standstill, internal areas abandoned, pseudo-reforms concentrated in power, the narrative of a Calabria that exists only on video: the former governor’s political responsibilities are evident and there for all to see.

All this must encourage the center-left, all the forces of the broad reformist camp, to close ranks with a single goal: to free Calabria from the most vulgar center-right in the history of the Republic.

At a very delicate moment for the management of public affairs in our region, due to a former president who plays at the expense of Calabrians, with the sole aim of regaining power, he must find a united, compact, and unwavering political opponent in the progressive front. The starting point is the meeting in Lamezia Terme a few days ago.

A constructive meeting that laid the foundations for building what will be the center-left’s political proposal in Calabria. In all this, the coordination between Senator and Secretary of the Democratic Party, Nicola Irto, and the Work on the first draft of the M5S coordinator, Anna Laura Orrico, is crucial for the future.

All the parties participating in the discussion—continues the regional spokesperson for AS—are called upon to take a responsible stance towards Calabrians: to propose a regional governance model that is completely at odds with the one developed by Occhiuto. Social justice and the needs of the population should be the only guiding principles for our political commitment.

I therefore urge you to put aside pointless polemics and stay focused on building a valid, serious, and strong alternative to the concentration of power that is the Calabrian center-right, led by the best possible presidential candidate.

Calabria deserves to be governed with conscience and responsibility, and we all have a duty to serve it. In agreement with the national secretariat of AVS, we too are in a position to nominate an authoritative and winning figure. A true alliance is built when the proposals of allies with the same reciprocity.”
