In a recent meeting, the Portuguese Greens “Os Verdes” reaffirmed their unity and shared commitment to fighting far-right policies and finding solutions to improve people’s lives.
Following the legislative elections, the PCP and the PEV met to analyse the new political framework, marked by the rise of the right wing and the intensification of its anti-social policies, with attacks on Social Security, labour rights and the NHS.
The PCP delegation was made up of Paulo Raimundo (Secretary-General of the PCP), Jorge Cordeiro (member of the Secretariat and Political Committee of the PCP Central Committee) and Paula Santos (President of the parliamentary group and member of the Political Committee of the PCP Central Committee).

They reaffirmed their unity and common commitment to combating right-wing policies and building solutions that improve the lives of the population. The role of the CDU in local government was also highlighted, with 19 municipalities under management, as a result of the recognised work of its elected representatives – from the PCP, the PEV and many independents – who have proven themselves among the population.
